René Hildesheim is een veelzijdige verhalenverteller en theatermaker uit Veghel, Noord-Brabant. Zijn werk richt zich op het delen van persoonlijke en historische verhalen, met een bijzondere nadruk op de Tweede Wereldoorlog en zijn eigen Joodse familiegeschiedenis. Hoewel hij voornamelijk actief is in theater en vertelkunst, heeft hij ook verschillende documentaires gemaakt die belangrijke maatschappelijke en historische thema’s onderzoeken.

Een van zijn bekendste projecten is de driedelige documentaire “Is herdenken genoeg?”, waarin René de geschiedenis van de Joodse gemeenschap in Veghel onderzoekt. De eerste aflevering verdiept zich in deze geschiedenis, de tweede aflevering belicht de plaatsing van struikelstenen in Meierijstad, en de derde aflevering vertelt het verhaal van de zusjes Vander Sluis, terwijl hij zoekt naar manieren om de herinnering aan de omgekomen Joodse Veghelnaren levend te houden.
